About the program
The Tribal Council Funding program provides funding to eligible tribal councils for core governance and administrative operations. This helps them deliver programs and services on behalf of their member First Nations and strengthen their governance capacity.
The maximum funding available for each tribal council is calculated according to three formula factors:
- the number of member First Nations
- the total on-reserve population of member First Nations
- the number of ongoing major departmental programs delivered

How to apply
Review the Tribal Council Funding Program Policy before applying.
Tribal councils must apply annually using the Tribal Council Funding Application form (#5814375) and the Tribal Council Funding Work Plan form (#5677670), at Proposals, applications, and work plans.
To apply, submit completed application forms to your regional office.
