Investing in school facilities
Budget 2016 provided $969.4 million over 5 years for First Nations school facilities, in addition to $500 million remaining from Budget 2014.
The 2020 Fall Economic Statement included $22.5 million to be delivered through Indigenous Services Canada to improve ventilation in public buildings on reserves and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. This amount includes funding to improve ventilation in schools, health facilities and other public buildings.
These investments will create quality learning environments that are safe and healthy and will help to achieve positive educational outcomes for First Nations students living on reserves.
