Investing in health infrastructure
Budget 2016 allocated $319.9 million over 5 years to build, repair or renovate First Nations health infrastructure, such as First Nations health centres, nursing stations, substance use treatment centres and Aboriginal Head Start On Reserve programs.
Budget 2017 provided an additional $153 million for health-related infrastructure projects on reserves.
Safe health facilities are essential to provide effective, sustainable and culturally appropriate health programs and services.
As of September 30, 2019, $289.9 million of targeted funds has been invested to support health-related infrastructure projects.
