Engagement on the Wasauksing Swing Bridge future operations
Current status: closed
The engagement started on August 21, 2019 and closed on September 30, 2019.
What
The historic Wasauksing Swing Bridge is the only road access to Parry Island for the Wasauksing First Nation and the general public. The Government of Canada is committed to maintaining the integrity of the bridge and continued safe travel for users, while maintaining road access to the First Nation.
However, the Wasauksing Swing Bridge is an aging structure. To preserve the bridge, minimize wear and tear, and extend the life of the bridge, the Government of Canada is interested in exploring options such as reduced bridge operation and is seeking input from stakeholders.
Why
The feedback received will help Transport Canada make an informed decision on the future operation of the Wasauksing Swing Bridge. A summary of comments received will be posted online.
Who
The Government of Canada is seeking input from interested stakeholders, including the boating community, commercial operators and the general public.
Participants are invited to share their views on a revised and reduced bridge operation schedule.
