Star Blanket Cree Nation

New water treatment system complete; operational improvements ongoing

Project tracker

Projected lift date: TBD

Star Blanket Cree Nation in Saskatchewan is home to approximately 300 people on reserve.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory:

  • a boil water advisory on the Star Blanket Public Water System was set in January 2007 and became long-term in January 2008

The advisory affects approximately 82 homes and community buildings such as the band office, health care facility and Early Learning Centre.

Construction of a new water treatment system to meet the long-term needs of the community is complete. The new system is producing water that meets all requirements. Once operations have improved, the community should be in a position to lift the long-term drinking water advisory.
