Fort Severn

Interim repairs underway; Construction underway on water treatment plant upgrade

Project tracker

Projected lift date: December 2023

Fort Severn First Nation in Ontario is home to 555 people on reserve.

There is 1 long-term drinking water advisory:

The advisory affects 110 homes and 6 community buildings.

The advisory is in place due to issues with the raw water reservoir. Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) is supporting the First Nation and the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Water/Wastewater Hub to address the issues. Repairs to the reservoir liners as part of the short-term solution are underway. Once the repairs are complete and the raw water in the reservoir settles, the community should be able to lift the advisory.

ISC is also supporting the First Nation on a project to upgrade the water treatment system to address the long-term water needs of the community. Construction of these improvements is underway.
