- This bursary is designed to support Opportunity Fund candidates with preference given to Indigenous students, new Canadians, people from conflict-affected nations, refugees, students from inner-city neighbourhoods, and students requiring financial assistance through the Youth-in-Care Tuition Waiver Program. The Opportunity Fund is a unique initiative created by The University of Winnipeg to help make it possible for students to dream big. The goal is to ensure access to a university education, bridge the graduation gap, and transform lives through education. This bursary was established through a bequest to The University of Winnipeg Foundation from the Estate of Reverend Nico Vander Stoel. Reverend Vander Stoel was an alumnus of The University of Winnipeg, 1964 BA, 1971 BD and 1981 M.Div.
