Dr. Sheila Dresen created this fund in memory of her father, George Belton, who attended United College in the 1920s. George went on to become a respected teacher and principal in multiple schools around Manitoba. He opened as many doors for his students as he could, and because of this, Sheila wanted to continue on her father's legacy by supporting students who need it most. This bursary fund will be awarded to a full time student who shows academic promise and demonstrates financial need as identified by the Opportunity Fund. Recipients must have a GPA of 2.5. This bursary seeks to support Indigenous students, new Canadians and refugees, and students from inner-city neighbourhoods.
