About this call for proposals

Water and wastewater operators are vital to:

As part of the Government of Canada's continued commitment to support the operations and maintenance of water and wastewater systems on reserve, this call for proposals may provide recipients with up to $500,000 in funding to support new or expanded capacity building initiatives.

We intend to provide funding to projects that enhance the retention, recruitment and availability of water and wastewater operators working on reserve.

Types of projects eligible for funding

Many types of initiatives can receive funding.

Each project will be limited to a maximum of $500,000 in funding.

All projects must address at least 1 of the following target areas in First Nations on reserve:

Additional consideration will be given to proposals that target First Nations communities with either drinking water advisories or high-risk systems.

Please note, individuals are not eligible to receive funding through this call for proposals. The funding is also not intended to be used directly to train or certify water and wastewater operators. Please refer to the above list for examples of target areas.

Who can apply

Proposals delivered or offered by First Nations communities, First Nations organizations or in partnership with First Nations peoples will be prioritized.
