- This award is available to Metis students who: 1.) are enrolled full-time in any certificate, diploma, applied undergraduate degree or undergraduate degree program at NAIT 2.) demonstrate financial need 3.) have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the immediate previous semester at NAIT (preference given to applicants with higher GPAs) 4.) are Canadian Citizens 5.) submit a letter (minimum 400 words) outlining their experience with the Métis community and/or how this award will help support their future aspirations 6.) are not also receiving funding from Rupertsland Institute's Metis Training to Employment Services for the same course of study 7.) are not a Registered or Treaty Indian 8.) provide one of the following proofs of Metis heritage: -a photocopy (front and back) of a valid Metis Nation of Alberta (MNA) membership card (which can be obtained by applying to the MNA Head Office) or valid Metis membership in any of the following: Metis Settlements of Alberta, Metis Nation of Ontario, Manitoba Metis Federation, Metis Nation –Saskatchewan, Metis Nation British Columbia; or -a photocopy of parent’s, grandparent’s, aunt’s/uncle’s or sibling’s valid membership card in any of the above named Metis organizations (along with proof of this kinship connection); or -other valid proof of Metis genealogy (as validated by either MNA/RLI)
