- The Saul (LL.D., 1974) and Claribel Simkin Bursary Fund was established by Saul and Claribel Simkin. It will provide support for indigenous students to pursue a combination of studies and work experiences in the pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree in Indigenous Studies, Environmental Studies and Sciences, (including environmental education and environmental science), Business and Public Administration, Master's in Development Practice program, or in an area of climate change within the Geography program. The ultimate goal is for these graduates to help people in their communities adapt to environmental change. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need, demonstrated leadership abilities, and demonstrated commitment to their communities. Bursary recipient are expected to spend up to 12 months in northern communities sharing their education, skills and knowledge. These bursaries will be renewable for up to four additional years. To renew, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 18 credit hours and maintain a cumulative grade point average of a 2.0 (C).
